ARGENTINA

Nicola Catena landed in Argentina from Italy in 1898 and planted his first Malbec vineyard in 1902. 111 years on and this family owned business is producing some of the finest wines in Argentina. We have selected four from their range with tasting notes from the winemakers.
221 Chardonnay 2008 - £27.50
Intense greenish colour with light yellow notes. Ripe mango fruit flavours with hints of peaches and fruit cake spices.
222 Alamos Torrontés 2008 - £18.85
Lively notes of citrus and peach with delicate layers of jasmine blossom and fresh herbs
223 Malbec 2006 - £29.95
Ripe, concentrated dark fruit aromas with traces of vanilla and mocha on the nose. On the palate this Malbec delivers concentrated black cherry and redcurrant fruit flavours with a hint of sweet spices and tobacco.
224 Alta Malbec 2006 - £48.50
A dark, opaque violet colour, almost blackish in hue. A nose of freshly ground ripe berry fruits with a touch of cinnamon spice and citrus. Rich blackcurrant flavours with hints of chocolate, vanilla and black pepper.
